Degree Of Inhibition
$\displaystyle \alpha=\frac{K_{M}^{\text{apparent}}}{K_{M}}=1+\frac{[I]}{K_{I}}$
- $\displaystyle K_{M}^{\text{apparent}}$ is the new $\displaystyle K_{M}$ after adding the inhibitor
- $\displaystyle K_{M}$ is the Michaelis constant
- $\displaystyle K_{I}$ is the dissociation constant for the free enzyme + inhibitor complex
- $\displaystyle \alpha=1$ means no inhibition
- $\displaystyle \alpha\rightarrow \infty$ means a lot of inhibition
