Inhibits ETC by shuttling protons through the inner membrane of the mitochondrion. Specifically, an $\displaystyle \ce{O-}$ version of the phenol group attaches to an $\displaystyle \ce{H+}$ and forms DNP, which then diffuses through the membrane and then disassociates
